4 types of emails you should use

Do you ever think about all the emails you get every day? Some are welcoming and others, not so much. Did you know that your inbox is filled with at least 4 different types of emails? I’ll explain the 4 types and what they are used for so you can implement those into your email marketing strategy or find ways to improve on the emails you are already sending out.

“Buy me” Emails
These emails showcase products and are a major player in businesses advertising products, classes and anything you can buy. Now is the time to show off product images. Be mindful of whitespace. Be careful with the lack of text. These emails are heavily dependent on knowing your audience.

“Read me” Emails
Emails that tell a story. Newsletters are the most common. Also can be an insight into your business or product. It can be short or long. The use of nice typography is recommended. Use clean design in a single column layout for easier readability on mobile.

“Join me” Emails
Most notably known as event emails. These focus on action. Usually used as an announcement or RSVP to an event (open houses, campus tours, store grand opening). You will definitely see a CTA button on these.

“Transaction” Emails
Emails focused on the task at hand. Content is short and easy to digest. Usually in the form of confirmations, receipts, shipping updates or money balance. Use practical design, that is simple and formatted to be printed (receipts, locations).

Things to remember for all emails
Keep the most important details at the top or above the fold. Include the sale percent off, the date/ time of the event or the location of the place at the top. CTA’s are more in the middle or bottom of emails, but you want to keep the main takeaways at the top half.
